In ancient civilisation, the Amethyst Crystal was culturally used as a method to repel intoxication, deriving from the Greek word 'Amethystos'. If one was feeling in a state of 'drunkenness', one would take out an Amethyst Crystal and either place a flame under the crystal to inhale, or keep in ones pocket to deter the after effects of drinking.
This particular piece of Amethyst has been mined from Brazil and features deep purple hued quartz in the centre of the piece, fading out to a white hue.
