'The Bottom of the Sea' was inspired by Talitha’s love for French Impressionism and its power to ignite ones senses and imagination just through the use of an extraordinary colour pallete or brisk stroke of the paint brush.
The scene of the viewer gazing at the lone bather, who is taking a dip in the sea after sundown, creates a poignant moment of intimacy but also represents human unification. It is a beautiful moment where the bather simply stops and encompasses her extraordinarily busy yet serene surroundings.
This artwork is laden full of depth and texture by Talitha. Some brush strokes are soft and delicate, combined with the chaos of poured and splattered paint mediums. This piece was a rather joyful piece for Talitha to paint and pays homage to her true love of Impressionist artists.
